ProForm 330 Elliptical Trainer Review

Our ProForm 330 elliptical trainer review investigates another budget machine from ProForm – but does it perform well despite the cheap price tag?

As with its even cheaper sibling, the ProForm 320, the is yet more proof of the old adage, “you get what you pay for”. Just how do you build a decent elliptical for under $400?

You can’t, and that’s the problem with the ProForm 330 – it may well be packed with features, but it falls short where it really matters.

So what’s the problem with the ProForm 330…?

ProForm 330 Elliptical Trainer Review – Features…

ProForm 330 Elliptical Trainer

You get silent magnetic resistance (SMR)…not a patch on the super-smooth eddy current brake (ECB) system, but a welcome addition on an elliptical in this price range. Now it’s not all bad news. As you come to expect with most of ProFrorm’s exercise equipment, our ProForm 330 elliptical trainer review found a machine packed with features for what is a very affordable price.

There are 10 resistance levels, six workout programmes, two customisable workout programmes, an EKG hand grip heart monitor, a large LCD display, a target pacer, cooling fans…not bad for an elliptical costing well under $400!

The appeal of ProForm as a brand is obvious when you consider what you get for your money.

An admirable piece of marketing aimed at buyers with limited spending power but still wanting to exercise at home.

The trouble is that at the business end of the machine our ProForm 330 elliptical trainer review found a number of drawbacks…

Sure, the 18″ stride length is an improvement on the 320’s chopped off range of motion, but the build quality is still poor, with a lightweight frame and the same flimsy feel.

It’s a little more stable than the 320, but it still feels wobbly when you up the workout intensity.

It’s compact, which is a plus if you want to stow it away in the corner when not in use, but its lack of size and weight has implications for the 330’s stability.

It is cheap, but can you expect much more for the price? Probably not, so don’t expect a club-quality elliptical when you open the box!

The ProForm 330 retails for $349, but we found it for as low as $314 at WorkoutWarehouse although shipping costs an extra $125.

ProForm 330 Elliptical Trainer Review – The Bottom Line…

As a result of our ProForm 330 elliptical trainer review, we would draw the conclusion that an investment of more than $350 is required if you want a quality elliptical.

The 330 is a marginal improvement on the 320, but there are far better ProForm ellipticals around if you’ve a few hundred dollars more to spend.
