Our Powertec Workbench Multisystem review takes a look at what’s claimed to be the “#1 best selling leverage gym in the world” – so what makes it so popular?

Well, to put it simply – if you’re serious about building some muscle and you want to do that in the privacy of your own home, then in our opinion this is the best home gym to invest in.

I’m a big fan of leverage system equipment because it gives you the feeling of training with free weights with the safety of a machine.

Also, with no pulleys or cables it’s pretty much maintenance free.

Best of all in the current economic climate, it’s competitively priced and there are some great discounts to be had to sweeten the deal even further.

So, let’s take a look at the spec…

Powertec Workbench Multisystem Review – Any Good…?

Absolutely! So good in fact, that as soon as I get my garage converted into my new home gym to give me more room this is going to be my first purchase.

I’ve used pretty much every bit of kit from all the big manufacturers and the Powertec leverage system is my favorite – very smooth action with a full range of motion that enables excellent control of all movements.

This is my favorite home gym.

The workbench covers all the core exercises essential to a strength training program – bench, squat, lat pulldown/row, shoulder press, biceps curl and triceps pushdown.

    The machine offers:

  • Multi-press station for chest and shoulder exercises (500lb capacity)
  • Squat station for quads and calves (600lb capacity)
  • Lat/triceps station for back and arm muscles (400lb capacity)
  • Leg extension station(250lb capacity)
  • Arm curl station (200lb capacity)
  • Ab crunch station (150lb capacity)
  • This is probably enough for most serious fitness enthusiasts and certainly enough for me!

Whilst the design is surprisingly compact – 9’9″ x 8′ – you will need space for the home gym itself and to move around it.

It’s also heavy being near commercial grade, so be sure your flooring can take the weight – of the gym and when loaded with the plates.

You’ll also need to assemble it when it arrives. It’s not difficult but will take around 5-10 hours if the chatter in the online forums is anything to go by!

Whilst the price is competitive you will need to budget for Olympic plates, which will set you back several hundred bucks.

I would suggest going for enough plates so you can keep each station loaded. It will cost you more but you won’t have to keep moving the plates from station to station whilst working out.

Finally, whilst the Workbench enables you to execute a dozen or so core exercises, you’ll probably want to supplement your home gym with some dumbbells for things like fly, curls and lateral raises.

Another important feature of this workbench is its availability in two different colors. One is yellow and another one is black. The black one also available in reduced price. You can buy it clicking the following button.

Pros and Cons of Powertec Workbench Multisystem

It is very important to know the pros and cons of a multisystem workbench. Without knowing them you maybe mileaded. So, before buying you should know Pros and Cons of this amazing Workbench. Now I will explain the pros and cons of this machine.

    The good:

    • Good installation instructions for easy installation.
    • Different kinds of exercises that can be performed with better strength arc.
    • Wide selection of moves can help you feel great, especially those with the leverage arm.
    • It delivers easy weight progression and long term results as micro loading allowed by plate loading.
    • Use of minimal cables and pulleys makes the machine more flexible and robust.
    • Without any slackening cables and very minimal breakable parts.
    • Great versatility – With a little effort you can do some innovative and necessary moves.
    • Lifetime warranty – All of the parts of this machine are built to last. The company offers a lifetime warranty.
    • Good customer support
    • The Bench Press seat and other materials are very sturdy

It might well be the last piece of strength equipment that you need to buy for your home gym. Option for choosing from different colors can add extra advantage.

    The bad:

    • Limited range of motion of pulleys can cause problems on long range moves like pulldowns and rows.

    • Starting all moves from stretched or bottom position is a problem. It is good for some moves, but starting squats from the fully crouched position is a limitation in our viewpoint.
    • Some ignominy on pulleys.
    • Bench press forks are too long that it wobbles to go dip down.

We are using Powertec Workbench for more than 5 years. After 4 years we had a problem on the main frame. Then we contacted powertec and they fixed it within short time. The main structure of this machine is solidly built leverage mechanisms. So, the whole system is working fine for us except that solved problem after 4 years.

    What Others Saying?

In our review, we tried to collect opinions shared by other users.

    Here are 2 of them.

A user on amazon named Vanglisa said,

“This product is very sturdy. Very well painted and good color option for choosing. It is a great machine with a very little drawback.”

Eire, another Powertec workbench user said,

“If its better for you to train at home and you can motivate yourself to go for it, I’m sure that piece of kit ain’t cheap but definitely help you shape your home gym rather than spending lots of money on Gyms.”

Powertec Workbench Multisystem Review – The Bottom Line…

Our Powertec Workbench Multisystem review would recommend this brilliant piece of kit to anyone who’s serious about building some muscle whether as part of a body building, sports specific, general conditioning or weight loss program.

If you have the space and want the feel of free weights with the safety of a machine – you can push hard without a spotter – this is the home gym for you.

We found some pretty good deals online with shipping included. You might want to check out the section at Big Fitness. Here the Workbench is currently available for some reduced price but you may pay high price on shipping. So, I think Amazon is the right option as you can buy new and used(if available) ones there. You can have some machines on craiglist too but from our research, we found that only over used workbenches are being sold in very low prices. I wouldn’t recommend to choose these machines from craiglist.
