HealthRider Treadmill Review

Our HealthRider treadmill review looks at a low to mid-range brand with a couple of competitive looking
models - do they cut it?HealthRider is another company owned by Icon Health and Fitness, one of the
largest exercise equipment manufacturers. Icon also owns brands like ProForm, NordicTrack and Image.
HealthRider treadmills are aimed at the highly competitive low to mid-range home exercise equipment
market - treadmills priced
either side of the $1,000 mark. They're not as popular or well known as ProForm or NordicTrack and
don't have the extensive model range of brands like ProForm. However, taken at face value they look
quite an attractive option on several fronts.
HealthRider Treadmill Review - Introduction to the Range...
Our HealthRider treadmill review would suggest that there are three models worth considering:
HealthRider R60 Treadmill
HealthRider R65 Treadmill
HealthRider H550i Treadmill
As with other brands in the Icon stable, models come and come with great regularity in the HealthRider
range, but the R60, R65 and H550i are all worth checking out as you can get them at heavily discounted
prices online. The R60 retails for $1,199, the R65 and the H550i for $1,299, but our HealthRider
treadmill review found them for $899, $649 and $759 respectively. That's a whopping $650 discount
on the R65 at
Workout Warehouse,
which makes it a particularly attractive option and worth
checking out. However, 50% off a particular model would often suggest that the supplier is shifting
excess stock or it's shortly to be discontinued, so the offer may not be around for long.
HealthRider Treadmill Review - Features...
The reason our attention was caught by these HealthRider treadmills was two-fold - the motors and belts.Unlike competitors like ProForm, which seems to provide lots of gimmicky features to sell their treadmills and justify the cost of their higher-priced models, HealthRider seems to have invested in the business end of their machines. The three models come with 2.0-2.5 HP motors, which makes them suitable for more than just walking. Bigger motors also last longer as they have the power to cope with the workload that frequent workouts demand. Less strain equates to a reduced chance of the motors breaking down. The belts are a surprise, too, measuring in at a very respectable 60" x 20". A vast improvement on the 55" x 20" belts all too common in this price bracket. As far as build quality is concerned, all three models look pretty well put together and whilst not commercial quality, for the price they're not bad. They all fold, which may well be an important factor if you've little space to store a treadmill when it's not in use. As you'd expect from an Icon owned brand, these HealthRider treadmills come with a generous array of features - iFit.com compatibility, 'SoftTrac' cushioning, heart rate controls, lots of workout programs...
HealthRider Treadmill Review - The Bottom Line...
Our HealthRider treadmill review found a lot to like about these three models.Granted, there are better built treadmills around for the full retail price and there's a lot of competition in this price bracket. You can get some excellent treadmills discounted to or below the full retail price of these three if you know where to look - the Sole F63, for instance. However, the current discounts - particularly on the R65 and the H550i - make these HealthRider treadmills worth a serious look.
