EverSlim Diet Pill Review

Our EverSlim diet pill review takes a look at a weight loss product that’s “designed for moms”…it’s claimed to be effective for losing that pregnancy weight – is it?

Hmm, this is either a clever marketing ploy or a genuinely useful product to help woman shift those extra pounds gained during pregnancy.

We’re always suspicious of slimming pills – there are just so many products on the market for which there is very little – if any – evidence to substantiate the claims made for them.

So, is this diet pill any different?

EverSlim Diet Pill Review – What is it…?

The advertising blurb for the EverSlim diet pill claims that it’s a 24 hour weight loss formula.

Basically, there’s a pill for the day to boost your metabolism, suppress your appetite and energise you.

There’s also a night time pill to relax you and metabolise fat whilst you sleep…or so the manufacturers claim!

The day time pill contains a range of ingredients, the main ones being:

  • Garcinia Cambogia extract (hydroxycitric acid)
  • Gymnema Sylvestre extract
  • Green tea extract
  • Caffeine
  • The main ingredients in the night time formula are:

  • Garcinia Cambogia extract
  • Gymnema Sylvestre extract
  • Valerian extract
  • Chamomile
  • Passionflower
  • You take two capsules of the daytime pills three times a day before meals and two of the night time pills before you go to bed.

Ok, but here’s to the nub of our EverSlim diet pill review…does it work?

EverSlim Diet Pill Review – Does it Work…?

Well, if you believe the manufacturer’s promotional literature it does.

They quote two clinical studies that have shown that the core ingredients in EverSlim “generate up to 3.5 times more weight loss than dieting and exercising alone.”

    Wow, impressive stuff!

But let’s back up a second…“the core ingredients”, not the product itself. Now there’s no mention of EverSlim itself generating that kind of weight loss.

The studies quoted lasted eight weeks and examined the effects of Garcinia Cambogia extract, chromium polynicotinate and Gymnema Sylvestre extract.

The study participants ate a 2,000 calories per day diet and did 30 minutes of moderate cardiovascular exercise five times a week.

One group took the three core ingredients daily, the placebo group didn’t.

The results quoted showed that the group taking the core ingredients lost 14.99lbs compared to 3.06lbs in the placebo group in one study and 12.54lbs compared to 3.53lbs in the other.

The researchers’ conclusions? That the greater weight loss was attributed to the “unique combination of ingredients”.

However, not so fast. The combination of ingredients seems to be the key factor according to the manufacturer.

However, in the one study we could find – Preuss et al (2004), published in the journal, “Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism”, the mix of ingredients is different to that contained in EverSlim.

For example, each serving of the daytime formula contains 156mg of calcium (as hydroxycitrate) and 218mg of Potassium (as hydroxycitrate).

The study group in which the greatest weight loss was observed were given 4667mg of hydroxycitric acid. Significantly more than that contained in EverSlim!

In terms of chromium, the study group were given 4mg of niacin-bound chromium. EverSlim contains only 133mcg of chromium polynicotinate. Significantly less.

We could go on, but we’re not really comparing like for like here. Sure the core ingredients in EverSlim may well have generated significant weight loss, but in greater quantities and a different blend.

That doesn’t mean that EverSlim will deliver the same results!

In writing our EverSlim diet pill review we couldn’t find a single randomised, double-blind placebo trial of EverSlim itself that shows similar results to the study quoted!

EverSlim Diet Pill Review – The Bottom Line…

On the surface the claims made for EverSlim appear impressive and a terrific incentive to buy and try for yourself.

However, manufacturers frequently ‘borrow’ the findings of scientific studies to lend credibility to their products.

Furthermore, the studies quoted in support of EverSlim as an effective weight loss supplement – we could only find one – are limited in number and far more research is needed before any firm conclusions can be drawn.

Besides, we are rather skeptical about one of the core ingredients, chromium, as a weight loss agent.

Only green tea really has any substantial evidence to support its weight loss benefits.

All in all, there may be some merit in taking EverSlim but only as a supplement to a diet and exercise regime.

Ultimately, the conclusion of our EverSlim diet pill review is that’s what will be the primary cause of any weight loss.

And quite why this product is so well suited to new mom’s is a little unclear – more advertising hype to better target a willing to buy sector of the market, we suspect!

Our EverSlim diet pill review verdict? Treat the manufacturer’s hype with some caution!

At anything from $30 to over $50 for a month’s supply, this is an expensive way to lose a few pounds – assuming you lose anything at all!
