Calorie Calculator

Our calorie calculator is free and will quickly work out how many calories a day you need to lose weight so you can personalise your weight loss program - give it a go!

The problem with most diets is that they take a one size fits all approach to weight loss. You know, eat 1,200 calories a day if you're a woman, 1,500 calories a day if you're man.

People then wonder why the diet doesn't work for them!

But everyone is different, with individual lifestyles, different energy requirements, different activity levels, different metabolisms...

Our free calorie calculator will quickly estimate the number of calories you need a day to maintain your weight and from that you can work out how many calories a day you need to lose weight - simple!

So, simply type in the requested information and you'll get your estimated basal metabolic rate (the calories you burn at rest) and your estimated daily calorie requirements to maintain your current weight....

OK, you've now got your estimated calorie intake to maintain your current weight. You can now work out

  • How many fewer calories a day you need to be eating to lose weight

  • How many extra calories you should be burning off through being physically active to lose weight
  • As a guide, there are 3,500 calories in 1lb of fat, so by eating 500 calories a day less you can lose 1lb a week.

Alternatively, you burn around 100 calories a mile when walking or jogging, so walk five miles a day and you can lose 1lb a week.

Do them both and you may well end up losing 2lbs a week!

...Get the idea? Use our calorie counter regularly - say whenever you've lost 3 or 4lbs to recalculate your daily calorie requirements and keep your weight loss ticking along.
